Kuwaitis are probably jittery and nothing to do with Indians. You cannot imagine the stress folks working with @side-winder and other folks on the control side have for ID. I have seen more bald folks on AD branch versus others due to multitasking and ensuring you make the right recommendations based ok track behavior .., maybe more bald folksWell, one can twist the story many ways, but still pretty embarrassing........if not for USAF definitely for the Kuwaitis that they couldn't identify USAF jets? Do they not have that data linking and IFF? I thought the IFFs were a pretty common thing on board all USAF jets to prevent incidents like these and all USAF and mostly US supplie systems in GCC should be networked, no?
But once the interceptors were launched, didn't the F-15 RWR systems notify and launch counter measures? This episode proves another thing that happened with SPECTRA on rafales........it is extremely difficult to get out of a lock of a fast incoming missile......self protection seems more like "........dil behlane ke liye Ghalib khayal acha hai....."....if you are being painted by active/SARH missiles and your intercept coordinates are precise then chances of you evading it is very very slim.
No wonder PAF is upgrading its own IFFs on the F-16s, because in highly contested battlespace you never know who you are gonna mistake.
But it seems Kuwaitis have gotten a flavor of battlespace management from Indians.........not sure if that's a good thing or bad...
