They are evangelicals. Yes they are crazy, they are religious nuts, too. But they are backed by a military, economic superpower. Iran can’t win this war. Least against all, including all Arabs. Be realistic.

That is not the point of the critique that was originally proffered. That point being - that undue and targeted criticism of the religiosity of one belligerent appears to be inherently biased when the other belligerent is, at least, similarly zealous (and even eschatomaniacal).

I agree that the factors that warrant discussion that might actually determine the outcome of the conflict are virtually all non-religious in nature. At the same time, everyone in a warzone is likely to be appealing to some or the other perception of a higher power - one doesn't find many atheists in trenches.

I put it to you that he is most probably not dumb or "a joke" or particularly "idiotic". Even when he says things that we here would immediately flag as ignorant, he is probably intentionally covering up his actual level of cognition.

His obfuscating style of speech may be very deliberate. He misdirects, confuses and disrupts a questioner, feinting out of the path of incoming challenges, and often answers a question that is different to the one being asked. In this way, he controls a room and controls a narrative. He should not be underestimated and is a very dangerous individual, quite the psychopath actually.

some of these are unrealistic. Step by step is the way to go. I do agree about removing Netanyahu and Ben Muir type folks who stir the pot every Monday and probably paying for the damage caused in Iran. Iran should do confidence building measures with its neighbors so that they can feel safe and remove/reduce western military infrastructure. You can't demand the world and get it. Not that strong!

Yes I hope he comes back after taking a well deserved break. His updates about the conflict were valuable and I found the comments of actual Iranians very insightful, even if I disagreed with some of the comments.
