Why would Iran use mines? Surely, they won’t, I mean they would want their own and Chinese vessels to be able to pass through.. Mines would be really stupid and as far as I know Iran has thousands of Noor and Ghadir anti ship cruise missiles anyway.

My guess: You can force ships to take a certain route, such as along the Iranian coast. This would improve ability to interdict blockade runners and also limit ability for hostile naval vessels to enter the gulf.

Damn Iran's weak-half-a$$ed Air Defence.

I mean, the US has been bragging all day that they're gonna hit 'em really hard.

And still they don't have anything that can shootdown something other than those Drones.

Those S-300 must really be dated or out of commission.

Most of Iranian AD was hit in the last engagement - very little and outdated systems were left and likely not that effective
