That sounds like a lot of big fat targets for MANPADS while landing, and drones after landing.

Yes, but many of these giant transport aircraft can survive one or two hits by MANPADs if they get lucky, besides they have countermeasures like flares, infrared jamming, etc.

It's still possible to shoot them down though. No doubt about that.
