Since this issue is raised several times in this thread, I would like to clarify this point. The biggest ancestry in Iran consists of the Zagros Neolithic Farmer genome. These were the indigenous people of Iran dating back 8-10,000 years. The Aryans only came a couple of thousand years ago and make up a smaller proportion of the genome, although their language (Persian) and culture replaced earlier languages.

Overall Simplified Picture (Typical Iranian)

• Zagros Neolithic farmers: 40–60%
• Steppe (“Aryan”): 10–25%
• Anatolian/Caucasus-related: 10–25%
• Minor others (South Asian, Arabian, etc.): small % depending on regain

Pakistan is also 35-50% Zagros Neolithic farmers. They were the builders of the Indus Valley civilization which dates back over 5,000 years.
