Number of soldiers​

Iran has 610,000 active personnel in total with 350,000 in the army, 190,000 in the IRGC, 18,000 in the navy, 37,000 in the air force and 15,000 in air defence, as well as a reserve army of 350,000, according to Al Jazeera.

The report also said that the Israeli military has 169,500 active personnel, including 126,000 in the army, 9,500 in the navy, 34,000 in the air force and a reserve army of 465,000.

Defence spending​

According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published in April, Iran’s military spending fell by 10 per cent to $7.9 billion in 2024, attributed to the impact of sanctions on Iran.

SIPRI also revealed that Israel’s military expenditure grew by 65pc to $46.5bn in 2024 — a surge from 2023, due to its onslaught on Gaza which has killed over 55,000 Palestinians.

Air Force​

Israel has 345 combat-capable aircraft and 43 attack helicopters, according to Al Jazeera. The outlet also revealed that the Iranian air force has 312 combat-capable aircraft, and the IRGC has 23, adding that the air force also has two attack helicopters, the army has 50, and the IRGC has five.

Despite pronouncements made by Iran on the restoration of air force following attacks in Oct, Israel struck Iran with “near impunity”, Forbes reported, saying that the “sheer neglect” of Iran’s conventional military, apparent in its air force, made today’s attack possible.

Iranian airframe, including MiG-29, is at least 35 years old, with no recent substantial upgrades, the report said. Iran’s F-14A Tomcats were around half a century old, while the third-generation IRIAF F-4 Phantom IIs and F-5 Tigers were among the last in service globally, Forbes added.

Ground forces​

Iran owned at least 10,513 battle tanks, 6,798 artillery guns and more than 640 armoured personnel carriers, Al Jazeera said, adding that the army has 50 helicopters, while the IRGC has five helicopters.

Israel has around 400 battle tanks, 530 artillery guns and over 1,190 personnel carriers, the outlet added.

Navy​

While Israel has five submarines, and 49 patrol and coastal combatants, the Iranian navy has 17 tactical submarines, 68 patrol and coastal combatants, seven corvettes, 12 landing ships, 11 landing craft, and 18 logistics and support vehicles, Al Jazeera reported.

Ballistic missiles​

Iran has at least 12 different types of medium- and short-range ballistic missiles, ranging from the Tondar 69, with a range of 150 km (93 miles), to the Khorramshahr and Sejjil, with ranges of up to 2,000 km (1,243 miles), according to Al Jazeera.

Israel has at least four different types of small, medium and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, which range from the LORA with a range of 280km (174 miles) to the Jericho-3 with a range between 4,800km (2,983 miles) and 6,500km (4,039 miles), it added.

The issue comes down to Iran´s neglected airforce really..

This is what we learned from this round of skirmish it exposed Iran´s lack of airforce which is something only the hardcore military enthusiast knew like me, you and few weaponry fanatics on board.

But What Israel did is basically exploit this to it´s absolute best.

Now I am going to give you an example, during the 2010s the Iranian weaponry fans were rather just arrogant not productive they ignored this huge gap with saying or talking down to other countries who were actully humble and strengthening their countries responsible and in the right way by saying you just buy stuff and don´t reproduce but all Iran did was build rockets and missiles and these countries in the Mideast can develope that but they needed an actual airforce in the persent to close their airspace this is where Iran started lacking behind.

Example countries like Egypt build up their defenses, army and air force responsible with the right systems and they do have air-air missiles with better air defense systems etc etc. Countries like Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman all have capability to close their airspace plus fairly modern airforce with Air to air missiles ranging from 200-300km meaning anyone entering their airspace could be downed including Turkey, Pakistan, India, Algeria, Japan, Morocco, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Greece (Yes @Foinikas has an airforce) and would have been capable of downing majority of these Israeli jets.

To also note here Taiwan has an airforce to deter fuking China not only on paper but actually in reality. They have over 250+ modern jets with air to air missiles which means China itself can´t have this kinda of free rein over fuking Taiwan´s airspace without taking a massive toll of downed fighters as well and entering dog-fight forget about the Mideast countries majoirty of them have air force because this is the wild wild west and the original heartland of Empires hence you have Turkey (Former global empire), Saudi Arabia (Former global Empire), Eygpt (Former global emprie), Syria-Jordan (Former global empire) and finally Iran (Former global empire) hence you would believe that a former global empire like Iran would equip it´s airforce fully knowing this is the wild wild west and lands of empires.

Thailand is not a war country nor located in the lands of former global empires but Thailand has an airforce and not Iran a former global empire and I mean a nation like Iran a historic nation and a previous empire but the Thai has it and I mean freaking Myanmmar has a better airforce then Iran forget Tiny Kuwait who will be armed to the teeth in comparison to Iran.

Iran´s defense industry has lacked humility and clarity to rebuild responsible and all their argument is you buy as if it is negative dude you gotta buy first what you can´t make and then try to make it.

Some people might think this is impressive what Israel has done but it really is not and to be honest it is like India bombing Sir Lanka as Sir Lanka has no air force it is equal to that.

The blame solely lays with Iran neglecting their airforce and Israel just exploited that

Hezbollah fought for a year but was effectively wiped out in the end. Israel has been preparing for Lebanon and Iran wars for a long time.
