Is China now under any moral / ethical pressure to use its military / diplomatic muscle to stop further war and bloodshed in Iran?

Talks will continue thru the back door channels . There will be more talks Thanks to Pakistan setting up this formal meeting Very unfortunate on here we have people spouting nonsense on Pakistan role being minor. Very frustrating why did we bother at all.

I think most Iranians here and in Iran know the value of Pakistan and its roles in the negotiations. Unfortunately for a few Iranians here, things inevitably will boil down to something like a total defeat of one or the other side and thus such Iranians can't think beyond that and that thinking reflects in their posts here.

yes they can. similar ships and ford herself were used to blockade venezuela and cuba. its a minor miracle that irans tanker fleet has avoided us attention and been allowed to operate freely until now and even been unsanctioned in meantime. but it also begs the question that iran has been allowed to keep trading oil because trump viewed it more important to give some relief to oil markets before but now they are suddenly going to target these tankers and drive up prices again. i have a feeling some geniuses in the white house decided that they were going to sieze iranian tankers and deliver the oil to the us/allies and take the crews hostage

last time in june they sent 747s and 707s to karachi. i saw them myself. iran couldve sent more aircraft here, if not warplanes then airliners but they for whatever reason didnt and so more than 30 airliners have been destroyed in iran so far

Yeah really strange, for fighter jets I guess it makes sense why they didn't send them but it doesn't make sense why they didn't send tankers Transports and airliners.

But that works only temporarily. After a few shipments by Iran is seized, Iran will stop sending them because it knows it will end up in the hands of the US.

Also, the question is, if we assume that Iran sold its oil on FOB basis to China, would the US stop Chinese oil tankers too? If yes, what would be the reaction of China in that scenario?

The Chinese will be forced to stop oil imports from Iran, and because oil prices are high at the moment and the Strait of Hormuz is closed to Arab states, and Iran accounts for 9% of Chinese oil imports, it will hurt China for sure. What would China do then?

I suppose Trump thinks that China will eventually be forced to pressure Iran into a better deal, instead of confronting the USN.

Nukes are overrated in most of the scenarios. Russia has nukes but still it does not stop Ukraine from fighting against Russia and Russia did not use nuke. Israel has nukes but it does not stop Iran from firing missiles on Israel. Nukes will be used against nukes.

This war would have still happened even if Iran had nukes.
