Those tankers and EW/AWACs have to come because U.S. fighter jets have to fly from Israel and deep from Saudi Arabia so they need a constant stream of tankers in the area for refueling to do bombing runs.

AWACs are needed because the regional radar network is fragmented due to Iranian strikes on radars and air defense.

EW planes are needed to jam the remaining Iranian defenses, command and control nodes, and radars so planes can drop JDAMs instead of relying on dwindling stand off munitions.

In Trump’s mind he can bomb Iran for 2-3 weeks and disable PickAxe even if it means just burying the tunnels into the sight. Then get Iran to agree to a new MoU after being under a blockade for what will be 8 weeks by then.
