I wouldn't dismiss them now, given that Trump has forced some as yet unknown concessions from NATO on the Greenland issue.

Of course, that was his plan all along, never an invasion of Greenland, but dangling the genuine threat of invasion made it straightforward getting NATO acquiescence on a number of issues that he wanted their acquiescence on.
