It would take a couple of weeks for the IRGC to send 100k of them back in body bags. There is no scenario that Iran gets ground invaded. Its simply too costly and risky. If it wasn't, (trust me,) after Iraq the US would've stopped by to say hello...and bring us democracy like they did everywhere else.

We’ve been through this hundred times. There was a reason US backed off of Iran. That was because it was more beneficial for US to contain Iran. A contained Iran means they get to milk Arabs, and justify their presence in the Middle East. While Iran through sanctions and isolations doesn’t become a threat. Arabs are no longer scared of Iran. The proxies are gone.

Maintaining such acrimony just makes it easier for the enemies of both to divide and conquer.

Obviously, there is no need to occupy Iran when it remains so useful, while its economic strength withers away to almost nothing, helping to keep its influence contained but ominous.

In my view, that is the real danger, not nomenclature, but I suppose to many it might be the other way around.

the name of the Persian Gulf has a deep meaning to Iranians, especially in light of recent attempts by others to rename it (including Trump as a way to insult Iranians)
