When the US wants to start the attack, they will leave Iran's firing range before it starts.

They are not stupid to stay in a position that makes them vulnerable when they can get this done with minimal casaulties.

The desalination plants are vital
Israels economy relies on its high tech sector, if you want to cripple Israel then these areas in Israel needs to be destroyed
Israel also has a centralised energy infrastructure system that needs to be hit

It was frustrating this wasn't done in the 12 day war, both sides probably didn't want to escalate to that extent

But in a existential war with the U.S all bets must be off and Iran MUST go for painful target's and go for them QUICKLY

The U.S bases and presence in multiple countries must be wiped out
