I think that Iran has a large inventory of anti-ship missiles deployed along the coasts and is saving them wisely, ready to focus using them only on enemy ships if they come within range. I hope to read reports of US Navy ships sunk, even if not necessarily the carrier at first.

Taking out a big juicy enemy target early can help with raising the morale of IRGC personnel and civilians for this long war, so I hope they deliver on this.

Iran is playing its strait of hormuz card smartly:

Iran is not blocking the actual strait of hormuz,it is selectively blocking access through the strait of hormuz, and apparently US cant undo Iranian control and reduction of navigation in the strait of hormuz, in day 2 or 3 of the war.

All Iran needs to do is ensure that the insurance rates for shipping across the Strait of Hormuz become astronomical. No ships will sail thru.
