I didn't think they would help from the beginning, it's more just expressing a sense of betrayal from Iran's side as it stood with it against NATO in Ukraine.

It would have had the chance to do the same thing that NATO did to it.

Obviously Russia itself recently is no longer the superpower it once was and has weaker power projection, it's also quite pro-Israel and had no plans to help Iran.
