IRIN, IRGCN together operated 17 corvettes/frigates, 24 FACs (total 32 combat ships, all made or retrofitted after 2005), 7 Forward Ocean bases, 3 attack + 2 light + 21 coastal submarines. The navy was never a match against US navy in blue sea warfare. Battling in straight of Hormuz is a different thing.
