Ask Turkey and Pakistan first to assist Iran before expecting small militaries of Gulf to go suicidal mode and stand up against US control of the region.

Let's say you are amir of Qatar. What options you really have? Stand up against America ? A drone may eliminate you and your brother would be made Amir instantly. Your brother will see a live example of what happens when you cross the line. Regime changes in last 5-6 years are in front of us including in Pakistan.

If I were them, I'd risk it.

Sure I might be offed by them, but at least it will spark a revolution by the people to hammer in a new regime or constitution to make it illegal for the country to host any foreign military bases no matter the need or reason.

Once the "no foreign bases" becomes a part of the constitution and Law, little the US can do to stop it because it's now part of the country's institution and system.

Case is Malaysia. We may have some relations or joint exercises with the US military for formality, but we don't have a formal alliance nor do we let them set up bases inside Malaysia unlike Singapore.

Gulf states can be sovereign countries like Malaysia while still not allowing their land to host any foreign bases, US or not.

In Pakistan, we say Indians infiltrate Pakistan via Iran. We say India finances terror via Afghanistan. We say Afghanistan trains and supports TTP/BLA terriers, and we also say, Zion is behind supporting India against Pakistan (we can probably expand this list based on conspiracy theories).

Keep in mind this is China's peacetime production mode with their military spending at a measly 1.7% of their GDP, honestly this is crazy considering everything going on.

But even with this measly budget, China is outproducing the US and in terms of ballistic missiles, you can't even compare the DF17s to ATACMs, that is like comparing a stealth fighter to a 2nd or 3rd generation fighter.

Because a dictator in Pakistan seized a chance to gain international legitimacy and continue the business model of renting out the country. He also doomed the country to years of retaliation.

If GCC are vassals of America then they should take their complaints to America.

BTW, Iran likes to have those bases in the GCC. As it gives Iran lot of targets to hit. Imagine if there was no US base in the region. What Iran would have been striking ?? That's why Iran is not demaning GCC countries to kick out US bases. Iran knows its a leverage it incase of any conflict.

If there were no US bases in the region, the options available to the US to hit Iran or sponsor some militia or coup or gather intelligence would be much more limited.

Agreed as far as Jordan is concerned.

GCC countries are not even in the path of Iran to Israel missile strikes except KSA. So they possibly cannot hit any Iranian missile going towards Israel.

As far as US bases are concerned, GCC specifically told US to not use their country's bases. This is most what they can do given their strength. They cannot kick out americans out of their country. Every country wants sanction-free and powerful economy. Nobody wants to end up like Venezuela, so there are very limited choices with these countries themselves. Even relatively powerful countries like Turkey, South Korea, Japan and many others have US bases. Not necessarily all these countries want to host US bases but they will have very tough future if any country goes stands against US hegemony. Remember, Pakistan provided supply route and airspace and possible an airbase against US operations against Taliban 1.0. Considering the fact that Taliban 1.0 was staunch ally of Pakistan. But we had no choice but to assist United States in its massacre despite us being nuclear power.

To borrow a football adage, Iran can only play against whatever opposition is put in front of her. If a GCC nation hamstrings itself by SELECTIVELY hosting ACTIVE AND DEPLOYABLE US military assets (so we're not talking about overflights now but about actual deployable assets of a belligerent party to a conflict) and not being able to send them away in a time of conflict, then this is poor decision making by that host nation.

I have chosen these words carefully because they describe the nature of the operational bases present in these gulf nations.

If we were to consider true neutrality during wartime, active deployable assets cannot be hosted for one side in preference to another because this obviates neutrality. Sure, a stricken vessel or an injured soldier can cross into a neutral state and seek refuge, but (a) they are not active combatants in that scenario and (b) that privilege exists for BOTH belligerents.

Neutrality existed in WW2. Spain, Switzerland, Turkey were all accessible to both belligerent nations for humanitarian/refuge purposes but not for active asset management or deployment.

I cannot see how the GCC nations can cite neutrality in this context. That is the price of acquiescence to US military expanisionism and they should not have been led to believe US bases came without any cost attached to them.

our leverage is their oil/gas infrastructure not the US bases, if the US can't have any bases in the region then they have to rely on low sortie rates or bring their ships into dangerous range
