A lot of people have been asking about accurate US casualty numbers - These are the MEDIVAC flights I have tracked leaving the ME for EU since the conflict began:

So, this rudimentary data gives us a conservative guesstimate of US casualties (not fatalities) at approx. 144 - 216 personnel.

Add 3 F-15Es and 1 KC-135 lost and one damaged this is taking a toll now...

Frankly, I am a little surprised by the American consideration for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. I thought America itself would be one of the last countries to be impacted. I must have missed something.
As to opening the Strait, India's Pravin Swaheny went into some details about how much effort Iran has put into making the Strait under target. Mind blowing stuff like under water silos--almost unreal!

Its a global economy in which the US is at the heart of it. Remember daily oil transactions done in $, and even if the US does not need to import oil the scarcity of it is pushing prices up for those that do then prices go up globally. Add in higher insurance and scared investors your looking at a perfect storm in the making. You would think billionaire trumpy would know this, which makes me think he is likely going to profit personally from this war and his associates.
