Their absence means 2 of the 3 U.S. mine countermeasure ships assigned to the Middle East are now thousands of miles away during the Iran conflict.

The move comes as Iran is suspected of laying naval mines in the Strait.

It will be interesting to see if/when Trump goes to the funerals of the recently 6 US servicemen killed when that refueler jet crashed. The visuals of him attending such services frequently are very damaging for his war plans.

Possibly escort a few ships but certainly not teh capability to ensure Hormuz can remain open in a sustained way as you say.

Quite a decent number of Frigates and Destroyers and the P-8 is a great aircraft with long range.

Those frigates and destroyers will be hit with Ashm easily.

Question is how realistic are these threats?
1) getting nuclear weapon now as opposed to when US was busy in Afghanistan is easier said than done.
2) China does not have a policy of deploying PLA outside China.
3) Russian Base, did we not see it's outcome in Syria? Russians use to look the other way with their S300 when Israel use to bomb Syria. Not sure how a Russian Base is going to help Iran.
With Iran's existing missile base, developing longer range missiles including ICBM would be a more tangible solution. Also getting chemical weapons ready and putting Israel and US on notice that any nuclear strike will result in Iran using chemical weapons over Israel and US bases in the gulf. Chemical weapons even if intercepted would still be deadly due to their fallout.
Seems just like pointless posturing, China has no real interests in establishing bases in the region, they don't need to with the sway they have on many countries these days, they like to use their soft power to portray themselves as non aggressive, sure they will take the odd base where they can but their focus is purely on the south China seas.

As for Russia, Russia is a non entity, 4 years into a war with their neighbour a fifth of the size and very little progress made aside from a large number of casualties and a huge hit on their already weak economy. And even then, Russia is not an ally to Iran, Russia only has relationships and those relationships are based on how much you hate the USA and what can you offer us, the average Russian hates anyone even remotely brown. Hence why most the soldiers dying are from the poor Russian Republics whilst the white population on western Russia barely has any losses unless you count prisoners.

Iran isn't getting any concessions, it does not have the power to demand them, some drones with enough power to destroy a house and ballistic missiles which aren't much more of a threat isn't going to stop the Israelis, not anytime soon atleast, contrary to what most people on here believe (which seems to be any X post aslong as it's anti Israeli) Iran is doing pretty much nothing in return for Israel and the Yankees destroying huge amounts of infrastructure/military targets/powerful people. I'm sure a few drones hitting mostly empty bases in the gulf is an annoyance to America but it's nothing compared to what's happening to Iran, Iran will be wiped out quicker than the other side with the weapons being used.

What Iran has is the power to disrupt daily life for millions of Israelis which is a pretty significant weapon to damage the Israeli economy which long term can cause some internal issies. All Iran needs to do is to continue what it's doing, even if it's just a few missiles every now and then as it creates fear in the Israeli population. Only issue is most Jews, like Muslims are very firm in their beliefs and will die for them. Still, Iran has no other plays apart from blocking the strait. Iran's only real weapon is damaging finances, they can't demand anything and should accept any cease-fire offers that do appear as long as there's nothing to give up.

Yesterday saw a Pakistani journalist John Hussain reporting from Tehran. He said something like 200,000 drones/missiles are still available and even if that number be an exaggeration, there are at least drones/missiles in '5 figures' available. He said Iran has such a surplus that was able to sell to Russia for the Ukraine war.

Let's say they have 2000 instead. What this war has proven is that a practical solution that can be replicated with ease is the winner.
The interceptors are not only more expensive to produce, the complex technology makes them harder to produce and rare earths put a cap on the numbers.

Which means even if Iran is producing half the numbers they're dispensing... they'll still stay ahead of the curve... besides with the learning curve and seeing the efficacy of systems that work better... they can orient. Iran probably already has the most experienced team in the world working and delivering these missiles.

Isa Air Base just got hit again......Iran managed to hit the training building or close to it. Can't get a word of casualties and injuries yet....

Quite a few Pakistanis will be at that base

Looks like Modi-Pezeshkian call did not go that well.

Tehran reminds Modi about need to activate BRICS

While the Indian embrace of Israel just before the attack on Iran was launched has been hugely embarrassing to many Indian analysts, per one Indian analyst India had figured that after this war, Iran would be made much weaker in every way for decades so India decided to dump Iran. Also Modi is trying to get on the good side of Trump again by using the Israeli lobby in America.

Yeah, credit to them, they played both sides for a few years, but now firm stances are being made.

Right now Saudi and Iran are publicly praising Pakistan, while Iranians are publicly asking questions of India....

This reminds me of May last year, diplomatically they are all over the place. "Laser eyes" needs to retire....
