The friendly-fire incident in which a Kuwaiti F-18 shot down three US F-15-E Strike Eagles and Iran downing 11 MQ-9 Reaper drones adds further costs. When munitions, sensor losses, and aircraft attrition are combined, the total coalition bill reaches roughly $20 billion—and our calculation does not include munition expenditures after day four and other operational costs such as jet fuel, expeditionary costs (food, lodging, etc.) for forces, and other outsourced support functions.
