Since when surveillance satellites provide a 3D scan of an object? At best, they can see the surface of the aircraft carrier. They cannot know what has happened inside it, or to the sides of the vessel.

3D scan not needed. The satellites are likely taking photos from the time it first comes visible until the point the satellite has passed far enough beyond. Some side views will be seen.

My reading of carriers is they are very much a 20th century platform. In current warfare they are a liability with these hypersonic missiles flying around.

I think credit must go to Iran as carriers seemed to be coming running towards gulf but soon as it got hot America pulled carriers out of range, Iran showed that America wasted much money on these now obsolete platforms

Poor UK spent so much on 2 carriers at the expense of rest the of army/navy.
