Have they tried to cross? If not there's little reason to do so, given that they could be hypothetically made to pay for transit after one potential outcome of the conflict. That's like 10 million bucks or so. And then there's the risk of environmental pollution, etc...

Besides, you can always blow them up if a full-on campaign against the Iranian power/energy infrastructure happens.

Because it would be stupid to attack an unarmed vessel without any justification whatsoever. If someone tries to run the blockade, after having been warned, only then there is literally no choice left for the Iranian forces.

But why just fire on unarmed civilian Americans? It is counterproductive to act in such a way.

I doubt anything will happen.

The Marines will have a good excursion in UAE, Saudi, Bahrain, for posturing reasons.

A truce will happen and the Americans, Iranians will extract repatriation from the Arabs which they will happily pay.

That would be suicidal bro. They'll just send in the B52/B1/B2s and bomb the shit out of the islands. Troops need to be dug in the mainland. Let them put boots on the ground on the islands. Soon as they do, launch hundreds of missiles on them.

Why? I think our islands are even more vulnerable because once they're invaded, we'll have no way of moving our troops there. Taking them back will be very difficult without an air force and a navy.

The mainland Iran is harder to invade because we have plenty of ways to get there, and we can even use Basij and regional militias to fight there. We cannot do that on our islands.

You don't even need to put your troops in harm's way. Just strike them with missiles and drone. And watch them die and enjoy pop corns. It's like a live Netflix show. They are naturally at a serious disadvantage,and surrounded by the coastline.

Assuming they invade an island of ours, they will provide them with air-defense and close air support and they will relocate to strategic places there and hide in our buildings. If we hit our islands, we won't kill only US troops, we will destroy our own islands as well.

Plus, you're comparing the cost of a bullet which is less than 50 cents for us to short-range ballistic missiles that is probably about $100K, or even a suicide drone which costs like $30K.
