Now even US helicopters are flying inside Iran at such low altitudes?

Can Iran not attack it with a drone if no air defence is available?

They were hoping to get the Lebanese army to do their work for them.

Lebanese "Army" does not do anything for anyone anywhere at all. Not their country, not their people and not for Israel either it seems. It should be "disbanded" and the money spent on better policing maybe ?

Yup, unless if you were building an Arial combat force along the lines and scope of PLAAF you'd have a small chance against combined NATO/US airforces, anything less would have been cut to size in the first days of conflict.

It was the right decision by the Iranian, probably taken after desert storm mauling of the vaunted Iraqi AF by US/NATO, that investing any amount of money/resources into the AF would have been an exercise in futility. However, it did leave them with near zero defensive capability.
Rightly said. I don't why some Pakistani keep bringing up Air Force silver bullet when the missiles are doing a much better job without wear and tear factor on the pilot and machine. The missiles took out much of the IADS in the region. What would have been the plan to attack the entity? Going through heavily defended air space where you're easily tracked?
Look at the indian air force in their failed May 2025 operation, started lobbing drones and missiles onto Pakistan. Even PAF had limitation or else they would have carry the advantage after the first day - which they didn't and decided to just sit back. Iran's IQ is top 5 in the world, they were prepared from day 1 - even I had to eat my own words. The problems with Islamic nations is that they want to fight like non-Muslims and when they get wrecked, they want to double-down. The Islamic way of war - fast, agile, wide spread over a large area is what expanded the Muslim's footprint. Iran is continuing that tradition. Whereas the West since the days of Ancient Greece were always heavy cavalry and infantry. Those ensure quick victories in short wars, but hit a wall in long, drawn out wars.

7th Ballistic Missile wave of the day from Iran to Israel!

4th in last 2 hours! Skies of Iran are much clearer due to less aircraft flying over head after the F-15 was hit! Iran taking advantage of this fact.

Do you realize the earth is curved? A plane flying below a radar’s azimuth means it stays undetected. It’s not magic, it’s how radar waves work, they are blasted upwards from their source. Mountains block radar waves (assuming Iran has any)

So yes it wouldn’t be too hard for helicopters to fly 50-100KM inside Iran low and thru remote regions to find the pilots. Ukraine does this all the time.

Manpads have a range of a few KM. Again you think IRGC are sitting in mountains just hoping a plane flies above them in a country the size of most of Europe.

Bases were evacuated weeks ago. And it wouldn’t be Artesh mission. It would be spec ops team rapid deployment teams that would take the call.

Reza_mad claimed 2 hours before any news came out that the one pilot was rescued, that the pilot was rescued and another captured by Iran.

So let’s see if he’s right:

I REALLY REALLY hope Iran has captured one of the pilots.

Targeting of an American A10 S aircraft in Khuzestan.

Another one .. mentioned as "targeted", probably like the Blackhawk Helicopter that was targeted today (but managed to escape after damage), otherwise they would have clearly announced that it was downed or destroyed.

An F15, A Blackhawk, an F16 and now an A10, all in a span of 24 hours. Good to see that a lot of US jets and planes are coming under attack, including one destroyd, since yesterday. An excellent improvement in the AD performance of Iran.

intercepted by (very expensive) US SM-3

we are seeing greater use of SM-3 to replace Arrow-3, which is effectively depleted now
