UAE has been profiling names like Ali, Hassan, Hussain, etc, etc since a long time. Many of their HR systems strike out people with these names, unless they are GCC nationals. They don't bother with any checks, they just assume that the person is a 'risk profile'. Unless they have well known sponsorships. Are you sure about this? I find it hard to believe because Ali is common name among all maslak. So are Hussain and Hasan.
One of my colleagues had last name as Ali and he was denied UAE professional visas twice in 2011 and a staff clearly told him that he is getting trouble with clearance because of his name.
I would totally believe this to be happening under current circumstances, as I know of countless cases of discrimination inn UAE, based on similar names.
