I maintain that this is the scene of deliberate torching of assets. They may have be lightly damaged by small arms and/or unable to take off for a variety of reasons.

It is actually very routine practice to bomb one's own assets if they are behind enemy lines and no longer operable. It's done with ships too.

If in this operation even 1 C-130 was hit by a manpad or two, it could have lead to the loss of dozens of soldiers and basically ended President Trumps presidency from a legacy standpoint.

President Trump's rule only ends when he is Impeached. And that's a remote possibility from the upcoming midterm elections. I don't believe the guy can be the 'lame duck' as people say. He has been using Executive Powers all the time and when those get challenged by the Courts, he finds ways around them using more such powers. And by know, even he must know about his 'legacy': Tattered when he ventured into this Netanyahu war. Forget about the Nobel Prize. Forget about 'I stopped X number of wars'. Going forward, he wants to appear a victor in the Iran war and to avoid any Impeachment. That's it.

Most likely planes and helis were imoperable/damged enough not fly due to recieving AAA bullets or mampads and then they burn/target them to avoid into getting into enemy hands/PR saving.

If the report turns out to be true of US blowing up two C130s, the operation in material terms cant be really be considered much of a success. Thats several millions of loss in equipment. To save one crew member.

But for the US and for Trump specifically, the symbolism and propaganda victory of this operation makes up for those material losses.

Operational success is measured by objective achievement, not by cost incurred.
