If Hamas never attacked on October 7th none of this would be happening right now. Hezbollah and Iran would be intact, and Bibi would likely be in prison right now. All this mayhem in middle east right now has its origins to that event on October 7th, 2023, that is mind-blowing.

Major historical events have often started as minor events. Geopolitics is sometimes like the butterfly effect of Chaos theory where minor instabilities lead to major changes. Iran was not "deceived". They have been ignoring the background noise and still stand completely ready, to their credit.

A ground invasion gives Iran a toe to toe fighting chance. Aerial decimation is a bigger concern, as Hegseth suggested, but come what may, Iran must and will prevail. One hopes logistics are secure enough to supply the components needed for a long war of attrition.

My speculation here is that Iran has prepared for a ground invasion owing to its geography instead of venturing out in the open and get picked much easily. Which also explains a deeper and resilient defensive setup.

Though they'll have to go on the offensive in the region to disable/dissuade any perch available to mount an attack against Iran.
