To be honest , China is the only country we won't mind giving them a base on the mediterranean ..
Hahaha, thank you.
We currently have no plans to establish bases in other countries.
If there is a need to establish a base, it is more likely to be a support base, which would require negotiation between two countries.
The mission nature of the base should be the same as the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Support Base in Djibouti. This base would host a maximum of 800 troops.
The main responsibilities of the Djibouti support base are to provide logistical support for escort missions in the Gulf of Aden, African peacekeeping, and humanitarian relief tasks, participate in joint exercises and training, evacuate and protect citizens, and maintain the security of international strategic routes.
In 2024 and 2025, the Chinese military and the Djibouti military conducted multiple joint exercises, with the main focus on joint counter-terrorism.
Here is an interesting story about the Chinese military.
The United Nations provides condoms for peacekeeping forces. When the first batch of Chinese peacekeeping troops carried out their mission, the UN, in accordance with routine practice, provided condoms to the Chinese peacekeeping forces. Since our military does not allow such behavior, and because most Chinese people are conservative and traditional, we viewed it as an insult. Later, these condoms were taken back to China or given to other countries’ forces.
In the 30 years that the Chinese military has participated in peacekeeping operations, there have been no violations of laws or regulations, nor have they harmed local civilians. All military personnel participating in peacekeeping missions have been awarded the United Nations Peacekeeping Medal.
