It is a "long way away" precisely because of the Islamic Republic of Iran aiding its local allies in Palestine and Lebanon to establish and maintain an effective resistance to Israeli expantion wich you view as overreach!

I believe the reason there is strong support for Iran around the world, especially in the Islamic World, is because Iran decided to help the Cause of the Palestinians. You see: There maybe a big Shia-Sunni divide but on Palestine they agree and converge on Street Level.
Pakistan is in the same boat with Iran: Strongly ideological against Israel despite Israel not really threatening Pakistan. One would notice that during the India-Pakistan conflict of May 2025, it was Israel which showed the most solidarity with India but even Israel did not name 'Pakistan', because Israelis know that Pakistan is not an immediate threat to Israel but longterm, yes, Pakistan is a threat to Israel due to ideological reasons.

Yeah, Iran coud do more that they did, but they restrained.

e.g: They could easily launch chemical weapons or dirty bomb against Israel and they didnt.

There was no need.

The Israelis carried out 10,800 strikes on Iran.

Iran should've retaliated with 10,800 missiles instead of launching around 640 towards Israel.

Had that happened, Iran would've imposed a military deterrent against Israel for decades to come.
