A little offtopic but you are right comparing the American alliance vs the Soviet/Russian alliance. Losers sided with the latter. Just look at India, which was way ahead of Pakistan in 1947 in most ways but the Pakistanis rightly sided with the West to become a very capable military.
The Russians suffer from 'The Russian Disease'.

All the while India is ahead in everything else..... everything that matters to be honest and if you do want to compare military to military capabilities, it wasn't the indian army that made the biggest surrender in the history after WWII or lost an entire chunk of their territory.

It was west Germany that provided the Chemical weapons, not east Germany! Get your facts straight. We sent our Chemical weapon victims to W Germany for "Medical treatment" and they just studied the effects of their weapons on us!

And the Netherlands. The west fully supplied chemical weapons to iraq.
