A nation can't have multiple centers of power ever--especially never when they are in a difficult geopolitical environment. There needs to be integrity of chain of commands--going from the topmost political/military leadership down to every multiple thousands of soldiers on and along multiple frontiers and borders. As much as India and Pakistanis are enemies--and mortal enemies for 8 decades--when a command is issued to disengage and drawdown then both militaries do that and have done so during many conflicts.

Here is the Trita Parsi video I was referring to. It is important to watch for its current status and for long term outlook anyway but it also addresses the Iranian over reaction. I don't think Trita's credentials about peace can be doubted.

Also, America is pretty free society with many dissenting voices against Israel. The Zionists are trying to target them lately as they get desperate but it is still a free society. BTW, Trita himself was recently targeted to be stripped of his Green Card and deported but saner voices in America prevailed on his defense.

I bet they will still play along since Pakistan is much more volatile today than it was 20 years ago.

It now appears that Iran's strikes used 10 ballistic missiles and destroyed 3 separate hangars at the US base > 1000km away with extreme precision. Although Jordan claimed it intercepted 8/8 missiles.
