It prepared for absorption of strikes, military contingency plans, but not politically for such a war. This is why the leadership is divided on strategy or unsure where to dedicate resources or what target selection to make. They didn't prepare , imo, in that sense. If they did they'd know how to respond to developments of Gaza and Lebanon and earlier but it was more reactionary and not a place they wanted to go. The strategy in place was strategic patience which was serving them well for a long time. And probably even longer if Gaza-Israel 2023 never happened.

We sitting comfortably can say that but ideally for our people in Pakistan , Iran , Saudi Arabia and GCC, it is not worth it to see wider bloodshed for our people just to be entertained by Iran on a Saturday evening ....

Trump family is doing this for personal gains and attempt to divert attention from his bad policies at home. It's smarter for Iran to ride out and and work with Pakistan, Turkey , Saudi GCC leadership to keep this under control until we can ride out storm. Longer range radars are like that. The powerful it is the easier it is to detect them almost at the instant they are opened. But Straits is 40-100km area so a smaller radar can use weaker signals and other techiniques like fmcw do the job with a much less peak signal power hiding in background radio noise and be harder to locate by enemy elint.

Also locating them is done by flying ew platforms and they dont continously fly around the straits. Drones fly frequently like the predator around straits with ew pods but those are good for detecting those stronger radars. So only in an area like SoH and using lpi radars like fmcw radar can do the job if it is moved around every hour. If it doesnt move satellites photos would detect them anyways and it will be destroyed by cruise missile swarm or similar.

Instead of large anti air radars, I would favor passive radars on the frontline that use reflections of signals coming from fm transmitters deep inside the country. Latest models are somewhat accurate but if Iran has them or is capable of building them under wartime environment is another issue.

This is some seriously basic stuff. I doubt Iranians haven't tried it already.
