Pakistan simply denied, plausibly so. Pakistan never cited some self-harming religious quasi-argument for generic avoidance of nuclear weapons. Because that religious argument would have blown back in our faces when we actually did acquire them.

I really understand now why Iranians are so critical of their leadership's "reasoning" for avoiding nukes. If I were Iranian, I would regard it as treasonous behaviour.

Iran is an extremely mountainous country. There is a myriad of small towns and cities nestled among the mountains, valleys, and ranges.

Furthermore, its sheer size ensures that any nuclear explosion—no matter how powerful—would be contained within a very specific area, allowing other regions to retaliate with sustained intermediate-range missile fire. I am more optimistic.

I believe the Pentagon would say no to Hegseth or Trump if they wanted to push the red button. What is clear is that Iran must be finalizing a nuclear arsenal, if it doesn't already have some nuclear warheads ready.

Obviously, as you rightly say, they cannot simply announce it; they need a just cause to withdraw from the NPT and conduct a nuclear test—something like the bombing of another school or an attack on civilian infrastructure that would justify abandoning the treaty.

Horrible, may it never happen but signs are appearing that unfortunately its going to happen. Pickaxe mountain is the most likely target. All of this can happen immediately if Republicans manages to achiever majority again in two months time.

They have just cause when israil and us bombed their nuclear sites their whole govt apparatus etc.

It's tactical nuke that usa most likely use to be detonated inside mountain using bunker buster missiles. No fallout or very little

Problem is that dems are also slaves of israel, nothing good will ever come out of these 2 political parties, the winner just continues where the loser left.

There will be more anti "Israel" congressmen and women elected this year from the Dems side. The Democratic base has also turned anti-Israel after the genocide in Gaza, Lebanon, and the war against Iran. I think the current Iranian leadership, led by Mojtaba, is playing smart. There is no point of leaving the NPT until the capacity to build enough bombs and the delivery means to take them far beyond the 2000 km range are in place.
