It was the Islamic Republic that severed all diplomatic ties with Israel and said it didn't recognize Israel as a legitimate state. Why don't you focus on the closure of the Iraqi capital and all other Iraqi cities other than Najaf to Iranian flights instead?

Exactly. Because back in those days, the minimum salary of an Iranian worker wasn't $70 per month like it is now and Iran wasn't under the threat of getting nuked or losing territory. We had the best air force in the region, by far. Unlike now that our civilian fleet is over 30 years old and our Air Force has been decimated. And now Iran is under very serious existential threats, thanks to stupid policies that got involved in something it didn't concern us.
