No trade with Iran, Afghanistan and india-, is this why your country accepted money from KSA for mercenary services offered in lieu of lack of trade with your neighbors?
Here's a brief reminder of Pakistani history for all and sundry visitors to this thread.
USA, Japan, most of Eurozone, IMF all sanctioned Pakistan in 1998 following our nuclear tests. WHATEVER FLOWS OR FLOWED IN AND OUT OF AFG/IRAN WAS DWARFED BY OUR TRADE WITH USA, even in late 90s prior to nuclear tests.
Of course, and interestingly enough, our tests were greeted positively in 1998 by Afg, Iran, KSA, China and other "global south" nations but trade with such nations was far smaller than with USA and Europe (and, barring China, that still is the case) - those were different times when all our interests aligned better.
Why am I telling you this?
It is relevant on a thread like this and in response to comments like yours, to highlight the sacrifices needed by nations like yours and mine in the interests of national security.
Not KSA, not USA, not Iran, not Talibs, not anyone comes ahead of our sovereignty. Decisions we make are made with our interests in mind, not anyone else's. If others benefit from our decisions, it is happenstance, and all the better for all parties. But if we need to sacrifice even our biggest trade partner for our security, it will happen in a flash.
"We (Pakistan) will eat grass, even go hungry, but we will get one of our own (atom bomb). We have no other choice!"
@Meengla (tagging you sir as you know better than I do of aforementioned sacrifices)
