Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

Caution, their aircraft were ammo depleted and almost certainly bingo before getting back to base if they were involved in anything other than launching projectiles. So they were, in fact, very vulnerable.

Escorting F-35s were carrying 4 AIM-120D each in internal bays.

It was the F-15s and F-16s that were carrying the missiles and drones that were launched at Iranian targets.

The F35s were vulnerable too for the same reasons. It's not clear to me why a few missiles were not thrown at them or the others just to make them wiggle around.

Iranian aircraft like F-14 do not have the ability to do this as they would need to get too close to the F-35 that would "see" them first and so shoot down with AIM-120D.

The Zionist aircraft stayed away from even the engagement range of Bavar-373 and so shooting down with SAMs was not an option.

Now if Iran had SU-35 with R-37M then that would have been useful as then apart from the F-35s the Zionist planes would have to stay at least 200km away from Iranian border.
Lumbering F-15s and F-16s with heavy ALBMs and cruise missiles would be at severe risk if they came any closer to Iranian border.

What is the source that they were outside of Iranian AD bubble? Since they only made it to 100 km of our borders, I gander they'd be within the bubble.

Well the Bavar launchers are not located exactly at the Iran-Iraq border but further in and they are actually much further south than the launch points of the Zionist aircraft in Iraq.

Even Sayyad-4B SAM with 300km range missiles would not be able to reliably engage at such extreme distances. That 300km range is an ideal scenario for a high flying aircraft that is not moving and I would expect typical engagement range to be 150-200km for a fighter aircraft.

Iran still did well but really needs an interceptor like SU-35 which I believe they are sorting out with reports of knock down kits already arriving in Iran.

This was postred in the Iranian Air Defence assets thread and so gives a good idea how far the Iranian IADS extends out from Iran:

Huh. Assuming in the unlikely event this map is correct (I doubt it), this map seems contrary to what I'd think of a layered defense especially on the western border. Per this map, opponents can penetrate well within Iranian borders from the west without facing AD engagement. Note, this is not the case in the south, north, and northeast.

Given the western sector is crucial for obvious reasons, I challenge the accuracy of this map.

The map is incomplete.

Iran needs 2 more Bavar-373 systems.
We also need at least two S-400 systems.

We will still need Sukhoi-30 and Sukhoi-35 as well.

I think it came from satellite data of where launchers, radars and control units are located. It was posted by @Emirzad and he may be able to confirm this?

The reason the Iranian air defence does not extend into Iraq is simply due to the fact that Iran needed to prioritise their nuclear sites and oil facilities with Bavar-373 and S-300PMU-2.

It makes sense in the absence of more units of Bavar-373 and as Iran builds more systems then gradually the IADS umbrella can be moved deep into Iraq.

Still even with more Bavar-373 coming into service, with Iran likely now building a force of interceptors based around SU-35 with R-37M AAM, that will greatly aid Iran in the future to resist Zionist attacks.

Please tell as this would be very useful and interesting information.
For example, the location of the Iranian Hawk systems, which were made in two versions(shalamche1&2), 3th khordad and Mehran and Arman are not shown.

Also, the number of systems is not correct.

IADS of Iran does not extend outside Iranian borders currently unless we count the installations on Persian Gulf Islands or IRIN/IRGC-N vessels.

The map I posted seems correct considering the Bavar-373 is confirmed by Satellite images to be between Tehran and Pakdasht, which used to be an old S-200 site. The Shiraz site appears to be new.

Babak T claimed in his article that there was a single Bavar-373 unit in 2020 that along with Khordads, was being quickly positioned in the northwest, and probably the same combination was being built for south-southwest. Almost 4-5 years it's safe to assume that came true.

I presume that Iran won't need another 4-5 years to construct and put into service another Bavar-373 unit.

It does seem like a very long time to get the 2nd unit into place. I know at first you build slowly to learn from initial deployment and to work out a more efficient manufacturing process but that timeframe seems very slow to me.

Hopefully more batteries of Bavar-373 will be in place very soon.
