For those wondering about placing Israeli casualties in context, I did a quick check of Wikipedia (always debatable, I know)

Currently their 750 plus killed and 5000 wounded (up to 10,000 depending on whom you believe) has exceeded the 1982 Lebanon war, is in the same ball park as the 1967 war.

It is exceeded only by the 1948 war, the 1973 war, and the 1967-70 so called war of attrition which were a series of engagements.

So, quite high.

To me the important question is what is regarded as “too high” casualties (from the Israeli context) and what Israel is prepared to sacrifice from here on.
