1) Israel killed top Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists
2) Israel attacked Iranian air defenses
3) Israel attacked Iranian ballistic missile bases
4) Israel attacked refineries in Iran
5) Israel attacked Natanz enrichment facility and other nuclear infrastructure

Iran currently can't kill Israeli military commanders, it can't effectively bombard Israeli airbases due to their readiness for Iranian attack, but Iran can destroy Dimona nuclear reactor in response to attack on Natanz and attack economic targets.

So what Iran should do in current circumstances? Iran should retaliate and impose costs on Israel.

The only way to impose costs on Israel is to attack economic targets.

Proportionate response of Iran:

1) destroy powerplants that supply electricity to Tel-Aviv and leave entire city without electricity - 15 ballistic missiles for that
2) destroy water desalination plant that supplies Tel Aviv with water - 15 ballistic missiles for that
3) destroy Ben Gurion airport terminals - 40 ballistic missiles for that
4) destroy Israeli Prime Minister office building + Mossad Headquarter building + Netanuyahu's house - 12 ballistic missiles for that
5) destroy Israeli Intel semiconductor fabrication facility - 25 ballistic missiles for that
6) attack ports of Haifa and Ashdod - 50 ballistic missiles for that
7) destroy Dimona nuclear reactor - 20 ballistic missiles for that
8) leave NPT and expel IAEA.

In total, Iranian response should include 177 ballistic missiles supported by drones and cruise missiles.

Americans should be punished as well - Shia militias can either bombard or storm Ain Al Assad airbase.

Iran has no choice but to respond harshly and this is an option.

Such Iranian response will result in Israel bombing economic targets in Iran like Abadan refinery or Kharg Island terminals, and then Iran will bombard even more Israeli economic targets.

US might enter the war and there will be a full scale war between Iran vs US/Israel that will destroy the entire Middle East.

they tried to kick out the US troops for a long time but Trump threatened sanctions like they have never seen before and it didn't happen

Iraq did try to buy some Russian air defences but it didn't happen

Its been 8 years. 4 with Trump and 4 with Biden. It could absolutely have been done. The problem is there is no political will. Frankly speaking a lot of Iraq politicians, they see the US as some sort of insurance policy.

Recently they were trying to reverse the drawdown, b/c the things in Syria changed.

They can buy air defense citing their own sovereignty. They could have removed US troops, citing "independence". Iraq has been turned into a joke country with a glorified policeman force with small arms that poses as an army and a bunch of ragtag militias.

Just another Lebanon with a few cessnas to bomb insurgents, and APCs and Kalashnikov force, nothing else. No Air Force, No Air Defense. it doesn't even have to be integrated into Iran's stuff, just their own system would have been useful.
