Israel detects more missiles launched by Iran​

The Israeli military has detected more missiles launched from Iran, and has urged Israeli citizens to head to protective shelters.

CNN staff heard air raid sirens sound in Tel Aviv as well as explosions.

Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement Sunday.

The latest Iranian salvo comes as Israel said it was commencing a “series of strikes” in western Iran, targeting surface-to-surface missiles.

Israel’s air force has started a series of strikes on dozens of surface-to-surface missiles in western Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday.

“The IAF began a series of strikes on dozens of surface-to-surface missile targets in western Iran,” the IDF’s statement read.

The strikes between Iran and Israel continued throughout Sunday. Israel warned citizens across the country to stay near shelters after detecting missiles, while residents in the Iranian capital Tehran told CNN they felt fresh explosions shake the city on Sunday afternoon.

US Embassy in Iraq warns of potential attacks targeting Americans​

The US Embassy in Baghdad issued a security alert on Sunday warning of an increased potential for violence or attacks against Americans in Iraq.

“The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is aware of the increased potential for foreign terrorist organization-inspired violence or attacks against U.S. businesses and locations frequented by U.S. citizens,” the security alert said.

The embassy urged US citizens to avoid locations frequented by foreigners and any large gatherings or crowds.

The State Department maintains a Level 4 Travel Advisory for Iraq, meaning Americans should not travel to Iraq for any reason.
