Iran doesn't have an airforce, because nobody was willing to sell them anything.
They may have thought Chinese equipment was not so great, in the past, but even if they wanted to buy i think china may have under pressure refused eventually. This is where russia has backstabbed iran the most, if they weren't in a position to influence and stop such a blatant war against iran than at least they shoul have provided thier ally with proper military equipment so that when the time comes iran wasn't stunned.
The iraf even then would have been defeated but israel flying across nations almost 2000km wouldn't just surprise attack iran's nuclear and strategic installations in the first hour of the war.
It would have bought iran valuable time to save and prepare a massive attack by missiles and shock it's enemy to take a back seat.
It's great iran has a good ballistic missile technology and in good numbers, i hope they made enough launchers too and well spread out.
Iran has shown courage, if other muslim countries specially Pakistan doesn't at this crucial time, it will remain a one by one story, take em apart, one by one. Unity is everything, look at the forces of evil, how well united they are in helping each other kill and massacre for their own benefits.
