So how exactly do you rebuild? If Syria ordered SAMs from someone today, isn'treal would destroy them before they're set up. Iran is harder due to distance but it will still be a threat when rebuilding bases in the west of the country.

Your idea is probably along the right lines, Pakistan was China reinforced, but reinforced is different to a direct military presence, so the unseen aspects are plenty potent
