They want to neutralize as much of Iranians capabilities as they can to point where Iran can't use its two most powerful tools; closing Strait of Hormuz and ballistic missile power .

After that, don't be surprised if they attempt at least a soft regime change operation.

If Iran can't fire back or make due on threats people will think IR is collapsing.
