Iran had the upper hand and was pummeling israel. They basically gave Israel a "get out of jail"-card.

you really think the US would let you do that and get away? With all due respect, you're not backed by any major super power and have no nukes, you can take on Israel alone but not the US and company. That's delusional. Doing a measly symbolic attack against US is one thing.
But Iran was beating Israel to a pulp. WTF!!!

Well the clock just reset and the timer is on... You can call round 1 marginally Iran because it was not knocked out in the opening round as intended but ended with advantage Zion as now they have another shot at it and doing a better job.
It is a lose-lose for the region because the whole applecart has been shaken. Leading to more chaos... which will again favor zion as an emissary of doom.
