Iranian Foreign & Resistance Front Strategy & Operations

The destroy SkyDew is the massivest shot Hezbollah has thrown for sure

Israelis and their supporters were bragging about it and how it was able to "help intercept all sorts of projectiles"

I’m interested in the drone that was used. It sounded like a possible turbojet engine rather than a classic lawnmower

I think it is still lawnmower but from very far away sound

It sounds like a vaccum having a flu

Israeli article after SkyDew blimp was deployed in January 2024:

The Israeli Air Force launched on Saturday an advanced surveillance balloon designed to detect and alert against various threats in the north – from aircraft to cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

The system, housed within a massive balloon, has been developed for years in collaboration between Israel and the United States. According to the Israeli Air Force, it is considered the largest of its kind in the world and is equipped with dozens of specialized cameras, small computers, and large data processors. It measures 117 meters in length and weighs several tons.

The transportation and deployment of the balloon were no simple tasks, constituting one of the most complex logistical operations undertaken by the Air Force in the past decade. The balloon arrived disassembled in containers and was assembled and deployed by specially arriving American teams. Inside the balloon, the teams embedded the most advanced detection sensors developed by the Israeli aerospace industry.

This marks a significant step in enhancing Israel's aerial surveillance capabilities, providing an additional layer of defense against potential threats in the northern region.

The balloon is strategically positioned parallel to the border triangle with Syria and Jordan, and it is no coincidence. It surveils and observes extensively to the east – covering hundreds of kilometers deep into enemy territory. To enhance its surveillance angle, it can ascend to a considerable height, allowing it to monitor from a much greater distance. This new balloon complements an existing one that safeguards the Dimona nuclear reactor.

I remember exactly a year ago an Indian channel was dubbing this as a wonder tools that would help early warning and stop any kind of projectiles, a debate ensued in the comments between them and pro-Iran users, they were saying that a drone on it and it is gone, and pro-Israel were saying Iranian drones are made in China and the same keyword they use to discredit Iran

I guess the question has been quickly answered

It’s a balloon. Always has been. They have existed for decades in warfare

it's just modified Ababil-2

I’m not so sure. Does not appear to be. Notice the back wings are “swept back” position and not directly connected to the tail, you can see the wing on the right side of drone poking out. They appear to be thin and angular rather than jetting out in a triangle from the back of the fuselage.

This points to a cansister launched UAV where the wings open up into swept back positions shortly after launch.

I’m sure I have seen this Iranian drone somewhere….

Compare that to ababil

I try to tell people these big MALE drones are obsolete against anyone with a decent anti air weapon.

I mean if Yemen and HZ can shoot them down what do you think will happen against China/Russia/Iran?

The reversal also happens we see Long Drone (Chinese predator clone) also been shot down several times during the war. Iranian ones are also just as vulnerable. You must either go higher in altitude (HALE) or reduce RCS.

it's a $200m balloon with "the most advanced detection sensors developed by the Israeli aerospace industry" enabling 500km monitoring range

its loss is described as a "major blow"

That balloons were used in the US bases in Afghanistan, with partial success against Talibani aerospace forces striking...so they are not so bad or useless, and could provide level of security...I don't get it why they were downed in the nights....

Confirmation that Hezbollah possesses Iranian Sayyad-2C SAMs

Sayyad-2C has 75km range, can reach up to 30km altitude, and is capable of reaching speeds of mach 4.5

Sayyad-2C has been in operation in Yemen since at least 2018

Btw where are the people who were arguing with me that said you cannot get high resolution footage of military sites from commercial companies? That they would refuse to provide such images?

How do people think HZ then got such high resolution images?

this is likely imagery from a drone not from commercial satellite companies
