Iranian Missiles | News and Discussions

Nothing to improve if not tested. The ones used were the crappiest in Iranian arsenals. Why use expensive systems when the depletion waves successfully neutralized defenses?
The question I have is what is the published CEP for Rezvans?

Rezvan was not used

Its hearsay, always some anonymous US official who think they know it all but in reality they are guessing most of the times.

Russian cruise missiles have c. 20-30% failure rate so it's not surprising if ballistic missiles have a slightly higher failure rate

if true, it shows Israeli interception rate of MRBMs was 50% of what they claimed, and hopefully the missiles that somehow failed to launch (?) can still be used

ultimately, Iran has enough missiles to fire twice as many

It would also depend on what BM's they were, if they were to act as dummies to help pull the ABM missiles towards it to clear the air defence for the big hitters to come in then its probably not a big issue. If its the main missiles who's job is to take out the airbase and key facilities then I would agree it could be a concern.

The US can track ballistic missiles in near real time from space based sensors and satellites. They’re definitely not guessing

US tomhawk fail rate is about 25%, CM fail rate is 40-60%

Traditionally Iran missile fail rate has been 30%

So 50% while higher, makes sense considering older missiles (with less strident quality controls) were used.

They can detect the hot fire ignition of the engine launch using the satellites.

Interception is still done by ground based radar, not space based asset.

Any stealth cruise missiles, either active or in development? Also, are most modern BMs carbon fiber casing based?
LO cruise/UAV has been shown at Maks expo in 2019 but not seen in service

many modern Iranian missiles use carbon fibre filament casing (e.g. Raad 500 and likely Fattah too)

Yes the US can detect missile launches anywhere in the world in real time with the SBIRS satellite constellation. It has had this technology since the Cold War. Remember there a few also radar satellite up that detect launches and the tracks are cross checked by the SBIRS.

Now with the North Korean hypersonic glider warheads, the South Korean and Japanese systems have lost track of the warhead but the American system might have gotten a partial track in the terminal phase. Source: Arms Control Wonk Podcast

It’s an automated system and looks similar to the F-35 DAS detection
