Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

So many scattered things here not sure where to start. Some feedback:
- Yep, nothing to be proud of. Nope, would not rather say the other thing either. A critical brain knows what should have been said instead--hmmmm...
- Don't use the term 'first world' That's a term invented in the 'west' to diminutize YOU. Let's start with some self-reflection before throwing stones.

If you have such a critical brain, what should they have said? Don't worm out of it. No its definitely something to be proud of if Iran is building weapons that are, as you think, better than than foreign equivalents, considering the sanctions etc.

What would you prefer? Western, G8, developed? The only people here throwing stones are you and Hack against Iran. All I'm seeing is double standards and expectation of Iran which are unrealistic. So much for critical thinking....

New Warships Armed with Various Missiles: IRGC General

The two new patrol and combat vessels that joined the fleet of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy a few days ago have been equipped with different missiles for a range of operations, the force’s commander said.

Speaking at the state TV on Wednesday, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri said the “Sayyad Shirazi” and “Hassan Baqeri” military vessels that came into service on Monday are each furnished with six Sayyad-3 missiles and can detect targets within a range of 150 km with their internal radars.

Moreover, 16 ‘Navvab’ vertically-launched missiles, manufactured by the Defense Ministry, have been installed on each vessel, he added.

The general noted that the naval cruise missiles on the warships can cover a radius of 40 to 750 km.

Admiral Tangsiri stated that the IRGC Navy has worked with 103 knowledge-based companies and 32 universities in manufacturing the two warships.

Each vessel, weighing 600 tons, is powered by four propulsive engines and can carry a combat helicopter and three light corvettes.

the main focus of this exercise was on IRGC-N. According to reporter, there were errors in a few ones of missile systems that were recognized and dealt with accordingly. Goodness of military exercises is recognition of these weaknesses and also resolving them.

It is very difficult to navalise a UAV/UCAV. The Shahed 129 needs to be completely redesigned, specially the landing gear and wing.

Check what US did to their predator. They changed completely the wing, with a a much wider wing to allow much more lift. They added even flaps and slats. As well as new landing gear much more robust with stronger shock absorbers.

Anyway Iran can did much more challenging engineering. So I am optimist at this point too.

the greatest danger to this ship will probably come from submarines, against which it currently has no defense.

I would imagine during war time this ship will be followed by Iranian Kilo or future Iranian Besat submarine for anti submarine operations.

The good news is US submarines cannot operate in PG Gulf or Red Sea due to massive size and will be easily detectable as they hug the surface. In deeper blue ocean waters it’s a different story.

I’m curious where Iran is going with this project as it’s outside of their usual military doctrine. I’ll reserve judgement for now.

Imagine this scenario involving a US cruiser/destroyer struck by an AshBM

The lobbing ability of AsBM can make a nasty surprise to these ships that possesses massive amount of VLS cells, lobbing right on the VLS cells area, what will happen? All the Tomahawks and SM missiles will all explode at once?

If yes this is a massive feature for AsBM, specially against US ships which have absurd amount of VLS cells

ok, but looking at the size and displacement of these ships, one might think that their use is not the Persian Gulf or the Red Sea, but to sail the oceans.
In this case, these are launch bases for ballistic missiles capable of approaching, if necessary, the coasts of any adversaries within the maximum range of use of the missiles themselves.
Therefore in case of crisis they will certainly be targeted by submarines.
But operationalizing ballistic missiles using standard maritime containers to hide and launch them will make any cargo ship in Merchant Navy colors a powerful carrier for transporting them. These containers will be difficult to recognize from other normal maritime containers.

Thus the only solution for the enemy is a full naval blockade of Iran, i have no idea if they possess the ability to naval blockade Iran

There would be no naval blockade at the Caspian sea though

Can't navel blockade Iran. It takes time and assets. Far before then Iran would've understood and reacted. Saddam's stupidity was to allow build-up prior to Desert Storm.
