Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

I'm sure someone will come along and say that they got Russian or Chinese help as an excuse, as if that is something that detracts from this. I only wish Iran's leadership was wise enough to obtain foreign help in areas where it is failing to produce domestic alternatives. A bet a decade from now IRIN will still be trying to mount increasing amounts of equipment on Mowj hulls and IRIAF will still be showing off that Kowsar assembly line.
I still remember the time these people tried to convince us of the China-Russia-Iran alliance to save the world. So, even if North Korea is using Chinese or Russian help, why can't we? Aren't we their ally, according to these people?

Great job NK.

I consider it as the thank you from Mr. Putin for your participation in Ukraine. Mr. Kim mentioned it as a holy mission. Good for both countries.

There is a interesting actualization on google maps.
That view was many months ago in Bandar Anzali. There is moored the Deylaman frigate at shipyard Shahid Tamjidi

At that moment it is clearly visible her hull number 77 (same as Damavand frigate).

But at the north of the port, in the shelter port (close to the entrance) there is also an actualization with the Deylaman, now listed with the hull number 78.

There is a truck close to her for servicing (seems to be a tanker) with oil or fresh water. A crane port it is at her side, but no major inspection or works over her superestructure (that suggest just a routine training mission). Radar mast seems to be painted with same gray hull paint that the rest of the topside so that suggest there is not still fitted the long range search radar Eagle Eye radar. (All fixed array radars have the radar faces of plastic or dielectric material and usually projected outside of the surface of the mast). Also it is clearly visible no VLS installation or even pre-installation have been done at the bow´s deck.

The white satcomms antennas over the bridge and the 20 mm GAM BO gun over starboard side suggest that the configuration it is basically the same that have been seen in mass media.

So ok, we must wait to Taftan in ISOICO to check if anyone in the IRIN dares to install a VLS. At least a pair of small navvab one like Zulfiqar class. It is really dissapointing.

Are these Iranian Navy ships? I was under the impression that FOB ships were under IRGC-N
IRIN and IRGC-N both operate these 'forward base' ships. this one belongs to IRIN (like Makran)

usually if it has Shahid in its name it belongs to IRGC-N (Shahid Mahdavi, Shahid Roudaki, Shahid Bagheri), if not it belongs to IRIN (Makran, Kordestan)

From this photo of the Sahand 74 under repair and conversion, it seems clear that there is no more room at the bow for the Sayyad-3 SAMs.

There should still be some free space at the stern of the ship, but at that point with the 30mm CIWS + its superstructure + the superstructure containing the optronic targeting + 4 canisters for anti-ship missiles, the weight becomes excessive.
Alternatively, they replace the Sayyad-3 SAMs with smaller vertical launch missiles (VLS), I wonder if what I circled in red is actually a modification to install the VLS.

Would be nice if they could at least install a naval version of Majid AD-08, Azaraksh SAM if the other options are too heavy. Even the Kosar IR Guided SAM could be an option? They are not mid or long range but they are better than nothing.

do you think it will help . don't forget the seacat experience we had

Seacats were utter garbage. Majid is not!
the problem was the range , Majid is good against drone or Cas aircraft.and helicopters .
against F-18 and f-35 it simply fly higher than its engagement reach and use laser guided bomb just like what they did in prying mantis
