Iranian President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian die in helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan

My condolences to the people of Iran.

It is a very tragic death. In the past, a similar incident happened in my country too and a political leader I liked very much lost his life in a helicopter crash. This accident reminded me of that.

BREAKING NEWS: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister were killed in a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain and icy weather, an Iranian official said on Monday, after search teams located the wreckage in East Azerbaijan province.

“President Raisi, the foreign minister and all the passengers in the helicopter were killed in the crash,” the senior Iranian official told Reuters, asking not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Iran’s Mehr news agency confirmed the deaths, reporting that “all passengers of the helicopter carrying the Iranian president and foreign minister were martyred”.

Iran has close to a 100000 jews living in Iran itself.
Like the overwhelming majority of jews around the world....their loyalty lies with isreal n not the country of their residence.
Specially now when according to the jews the arrival of their masiah aka to us muslims as dajjal is eminent.

This is in addition to the resentment n anger with in the Iranian population specially the younger generation,.
Then the minorities regional groups.
N then their r the neighboring regional countries, each of which as a gripe with Iran.

But isreal has to be the biggest suspect as it has lost face n prestiage with its inability to effectively counter iranian attack
Not the Iranian Jews. Their loyalty is with Iran only. Religion comes second.

It provide but the summit at the area is too steep it probably prilovide 1 or 2 second early warning
Sadly there iz no forward radar to warn of forward obstacles

Digital terrain map screens would. But of course like always Iran has the tools and capability, but does not incorporate them.

Iran will have to invest serious money into protocols and equipment to minimize chances for accidents like this. Simply it is not normal under any circumstances that highest state officials fly in platforms half century old,
I commend self sufficiency in many aspects of your life but there is no possibility for 100% of it, so it is necessity to engage with nations more advanced in needed fields that you obviously can not cover.

Doubt anything changes. Aviation accidents in Iran are actually a lot more rare compared to 2-3 decades ago.

Even US/NATO have airplane and helicopter accidents. The difference is VIPs are on very reliable helicopters/planes and not the same stuff as a random soldier.

Wasn't there a sensor on the helicopter?

Iran’s attack helicopters get upgraded, it’s civilian and government helicopters not so much. Iran has much more modern civilian helicopters purchased from Russia, yet for some reason Raisi was using this.

But isreal has to be the biggest suspect as it has lost face n prestiage with its inability to effectively counter iranian attack
Sure, you can make Israel the suspect in everything and anything bad happened in Iran, even BEFORE the technical investigation of this mishap.

Heavy fog? It must be Jewish weather control satellites.

Poor mission planning? There must be a Zionist spy inside the Iranian Air Force.

And on and on. It will never end and anyone who conclude that it must have been a technical cause or pilot error will be cowed into silence.

now people learn that missile can't do everything and you need to invest in many other things

Was I not the one saying what happened to national helicopter project iran touted for years and then quickly shelved after 1-2 prototypes?

Did I not tell you the lack of an Iranian helicopter engine is what stops a new Iranian helicopter design from emerging? Remember when you said Iran builds Bell and it’s engine brand new?

Iran is sorely in need of equipment and military modernization at home.

The past 24 hours should be a wake up call to people who say a modern Air Force is not needed, modern transport planes, helicopters, etc not needed. Claiming an F-5 and some prototype IR-130 will solve our needs.

Heavy fog? It must be Jewish weather control satellites.

It was heavy rain and cloud cover that turn into sleet/snow as temperatures dropped.

Poor mission planning?

This used to be common place in 90’s-00’s, Iranian aviation disastrous wiping out military and civilians alike. Then the engineer Corp really got their act together and since then Iranian aviation crashes are some of the lowest in the world considering how old the equipment is.

Poor mission planing still happens all the time. It’s a mentality backed into the bread. Not to mention these government officials love using old equipment for some reason. .

And on and on. It will never end and anyone who conclude that it must have been a technical cause or pilot error will be cowed into silence.

Highly likely pilot error. many times when you add poor visibility + bad weather + mountain terrain + a helicopter = a bad ending.

as of 2 hours ago, it was confirmed in Iranian media that everyone on board the helicopter was martyred

including President Raisi, 63
and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, 60

I would like to know who approved a helicopter flight path over this terrain.

without the Turkish drone we would probably still be looking for the helicopter

the number of lies told to the Iranian people during this incident was staggering. a major inquest must be launched with severe consequences for the embarrassment and incompetence displayed across multiple branches.

first it was just a "hard landing"

then the President continued by car

then they made contact with someone from the plane twice who heard ambulances and was hurt but alive

then they received a signal from the helicopter

then multiple claims of having detected the location of the helicopter

...

and in the end after 12 hours of lies and incompetence (where they still had no idea where the helicopter might be), a Turkish drone came and found the site for us in 2 hours
