I always believed and believe that the IRGC has other plans for Zoljanah program. Undeclared ICBM?

Zoljanah is not part of the IRGC program

Qaem family are more advanced and militarily useful than Zoljanah

I'm really not liking the timeline! 😡 I know it's not easy, it's rocket science after all, but some of us might not be around by 2050! 😤 I pray I'll be here to witness the first Iranian in space and a proper space walk!
At least in 4 years Iran will have an SLV with a payload of 6-8tons.

This might be more than enough for Iranian Space program.

1) Qaem-100: 50kg

2) 2025: Qaem-105: 120-220kg

3) 2026 Qaem-110: ?

4) 2027 Qaem-120: ?

5) 2025 Simorgh-2: 900kg

6) 2026 Sarir: 1500kg

7) 2029 Sarir Heavy: 4000kg-5000kg

8) 2029 Sourush-1: 6000kg-8000kg

Rough estimation of the engine diameter from the pictures of Iran's pre-2011 SLV/ICBM program.

If we assume the man has an average height of 1,75m, then the nozzle has a diameter of roughly 187 centimeters.

If the nozzle has a diameter of 187 centimeters, then the engine diameter is roughly 2,5 meters, which is slighly bigger than US Peacekeeper ICBM.

Probably Qaem-120 SLV that will be launched in 2027 will be as big as US Peacekeepers ICBM or North Korean Hwasong-19 road-mobile ICBM

For comparison Athena-2 rocket based on Peacekeeper ICBM was able to put 1800kg to LEO. Possibly Qaem-120 will have a similar payload

If Iran designs Falcon 9 like SLV in 2042, next stage is Falcon Heavy like SLV with three cores- center core and two side boosters.

Such modular approach will allow Iran quickly and cheaply build a reusable SLV with 54-64tons of payload to LEO by 2050.

That whole timeline is a joke and isn’t worth the poster it’s written on.

I still remember Ahmadinejad saying Iranian astronaut in space by 2025 back in the late 2000’s

Sanctions and oil embargo by the US in 2012 and 2017 and space program budget cuts are a reasonable explanation of why there is no Iranian astronaut in space in 2025

Interesting read. Takes up among other things the reason why we're still waiting on Ahmedinejad's astronaut.

My bad! Thought Zoljanah was also under the IRGC space program. Thanks for the clarification!

Yes those are factors. But even if Iran gave ISA all the money in the world they still wouldn’t put an astronaut in space.

The issue is since 2008 Iran has struggled to achieve major breakthroughs in ENGINE tech. You cannot expect to use SCUD engines as the basis for your program. Only recently have you seen Rafae and Qaem and others emerge. Shahrud team has underperformed dramatically in their testing and research of engine tech given that they had 15 years since Tehrani Moghaddams death to mass produce a heavy engine and they still struggle.

The critical Achilles heal of Iran has always been ENGINE tech wether it’s:

aircraft engine
Tank engine
Cruise Missile (supersonic) engine
Drone jet engine
Helicopter engine
Etc. etc.

Iran desperately needs China or Russia to inject ToT in this field because indigenous progress has been at a snails pace.

Only recently has Iran “allegedly” learned to reverse engineer RD-250.

That gentleman is why Iran’s space program has gone no where. You cannot expect to throw money at this problem and fix it or else Saudi Arabia would have been on Mars by now if money and no sanctions is all you needed to have a strong space program.

Iran showed model display of Russian space tug "Briz-M" which is used as the fourth stage on the massive Proton SLV and future next generation Angara A5 SLV. possibly for use in Soroush

signs of increasing military / space cooperation with Russia

Last CHAMRAT-1 Iran satellite overflies USA soil.

90 kg of payload.

Enough for a 50kg 4kt mininuke.

First GTO launch attempt of Simorgh-2 (optimised Simorgh) appears to fail, Iran denies launch took place

Possibly failed to enter correct orbit. First launch of Simorgh-2 and Iran's first GTO/GEO launch attempt.

Simorgh-2 SLV capabilities:

900kg / 200km LEO
400kg / 500km LEO
40kg / 36,000km GTO

2.4m diameter and 2m length first stage, 1.25m diameter second stage and 29m total length. Total weight of 106 tons and 570 seconds flight time.

Simorgh-1 SLV capabilities:

400kg / 200km LEO
250kg / 500km LEO

This account is claiming a GTO launch with a ‘next gen’ Simorgh this week.

he was right (I'll forgive that he was off by one week)
