American publication National Interest: Iranian "Shahed" drones are changing the face of future wars. The magazine National Interest in an analytical article examines the role of the Iranian "Shahed" family drones in modern conflicts and emphasizes that these cheap drones have not only changed the course of hostilities in Ukraine but have also become a strategic tool for Iran's allies in the Middle East. The publication notes that the United States has fallen behind competitors in the production of similar drones and now clearly understands the need to accelerate the development of this technology.

I remember some months ago I said that Russia had upgraded the Shahed drones and was ahead of Iran, and others laughed and said that was ridiculous.

Iran has the TV/IR seekers, and they are deployed. Babak himself wrote an article in Aviation Weekly in 2017 discussing Iran's TV/IR seeker munitions like the Sadid.

When you look at the amount of destruction caused by Russian Shahed/Geron strikes , the opposing sides are less than 200 kilometers from each other .
When you look at Israeli strikes on Iranian launchers, it is certain that they were operating from Iraq and Azerbaijan.
Israelis didn’t fly miniature drones or any drone from 1200 miles away. The drones were most likely American or American/ Israeli that were operated from American bases in the Persian Gulf and the region.
I hope Iran has operatives in Lebanon and Syria for the next round .
Even the Kurds are destroying Turkish artillery using similar tactics as the Russians.
Why didn’t Hezbollah strike using small drones and relied solely on Almas anti -tank missiles?

Excellent thinking, this is the kind of surprises we should be preparing for them.

I saw dozens of strikes using Ababil 2. I never saw any strikes using small miniature drones with TV/IR. Several recon videos were showing vital targets. The border was contested, and after months of airstrikes, Israel failed to capture even 2 kilometers. Hez could have easily decimated the Israelis using similar drones using two-man teams.

If this is true, probably it is. What is Iran getting in return?
