Islamabad Talks - News & Discussions

Can someone confirm that PAF Fighters escorted Iranian delegation Planes from Iran to Islamabad? Was any escort provided to either part?

I am sure all military forces are on highest alert to ensure Israel is not able to perform any false flag or direct action to sabotage the talks.

I'll leave out inferences, but I have heard they/PAF created a secure corridor.

What’s behind Pakistan army chief’s attire while receiving delegates

By Abid Hussain
Reporting from Islamabad, Pakistan
When the Iranian delegation arrived in Islamabad on Friday night, Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, received them in military fatigues. On Saturday morning, when US Vice President J D Vance landed, he was wearing a suit.

Does the switch signal anything, or is there a protocol behind it?

A former general, who also served under Pakistan’s last military ruler Pervez Musharraf, says there is no fixed instruction on what an army chief must wear when receiving such delegations.

“Usually, their staff suggests what they should wear, or other times it is the desire of the chief himself, what influence he wants to project. Under the Musharraf era, when I was in service, he would meet delegations sometimes in uniform and other times in a suit,” the general told Al Jazeera on condition of anonymity.

Another recently retired general also said the question of the chief’s attire was “perhaps a non-issue”.

“Protocols obviously vary greatly when it comes to meeting presidents or vice presidents. Normally for such VIPs, the army chief is not part of the welcome party. But we are living in extraordinary times, these are not usual protocols,” he told Al Jazeera.

The deviation from normal protocol, he added, reflects the importance of the ceasefire talks “not just for Pakistan, but for the world”.

I think after zelenskyy and Trump incident, he didn't wanted to take any risk. 😊

Vance's body language seemed very positive, maybe I am reading too much into this
This will also be a huge PR win for Vance. As most American political pundits are saying that Vance is already playing his cards carefully and doing his part as a means of running for President in future. That's why he had been silent on the whole matter of Iran war and he wants to gain support of his core base as a president who is anti-war. Trump betrayed his core following MAGA base and Vance will take on that role.

talks have a great chance of failure. fingers crossed, i really doubt the intentions from the US.

from the very beginning when the dialogue between US and Iran was initiated and it was almost a success, suddenly US & Israel begin attack. incompetent, inexperienced and nonserious people like Pete Hegseth, Jared Kushner were part of the US team.

so far we have seen immature and disgraced statements from Trump and his officials, whereas mature, calculated and meaningful statements coming out of Iranian leadership.

there is a mountian of distrust among Iranians. they cannot expect US officials who have backstabbed Iranians to do something tangible to make these talks successful.

their only agenda is to open Strait of Hormuz, they wont be ready to give any leverage to Iran. Nato head is in US, for three days now for such talks, has agreed in principle.

clearly signals are emitting from such gestures and one can easily read the tilt.

the important thing to observe in those meetings will only be Iranian intentions and their stance on the issue.

neither US or any other or any of their intentions matter here. Iran will give a tough time.

if someone is expecting results from this sitting is totally deluded.

Where is zardari? Why has he been shying from public eye throughout this entire crisis? Would’ve expected him to be part of the greeting team or go to gulf visits like everyone else
