Gaza Management Committee prepares for its first meeting in Cairo. Hamas is preparing to "hand over the files"

The head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, Ali Shaath, arrived on Thursday in Cairo to begin the first meetings of the committee charged with managing the affairs of the Strip, after Washington announced the start of the second phase of the plan to end the war on Gaza, factional support for the committee to assume its duties, and the readiness of the Hamas movement to hand over government files.

Major General Sami Nesman, responsible for the interior and security file, and Adnan Abu Wardeh, responsible for the judiciary file, arrived with Shaath.

Five other members are scheduled to arrive later, Thursday, from the Gaza Strip, via the Kerem Shalom crossing: Ali Barhoum, who is responsible for the water file, Omar Shamali, who is responsible for the communications file, Ayed Abu Ramadan, who is responsible for the economy, Abdel Karim Ashour, who is responsible for agriculture, and Jabr Al-Daour, who is responsible for education. The formation of the 15-member committee will be completed with the addition of the rest of its members who are in Egypt.

Informed sources revealed to Al-Sharq on Thursday that the committee will temporarily reside in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, until the crossings are opened and reconstruction efforts begin.

The sources said that the members of the committee residing in Gaza are on their way to the Kerem Shalom crossing to leave for Cairo, after completing coordination for their departure from the Strip.

One of the committee members said that the Hamas movement informed Egypt and the mediators of its readiness, as of Thursday, to hand over all the files of the ministries and government civil and security institutions, noting that this matter “was reported to the chairman of the committee.”

Preparations in Gaza

According to sources in the Hamas movement, an inventory of the lists of public employees belonging to the former Gaza government has been completed, in addition to the preparation of a file of the properties of government institutions, in preparation for handing it over to the National Committee.

For his part, another member of the committee said, “The committee’s main mission is to provide relief to our people in Gaza and provide life services to ensure a decent life,” considering that “the absence of American and international support for opening the crossings and bringing in medical, food, logistical aid, fuel, and building materials makes this mission almost impossible.”

He pointed out that the committee will hold meetings with the American ambassador and American officials in Cairo, in addition to meetings with Palestinian faction leaders, with the aim of providing political and practical support for the success of its work.

He explained that the committee will coordinate its activities and services with the Palestinian government, and will cooperate with all parties, including the Peace Council, which US President Donald Trump announced his intention to form, in addition to international forces, in a way that serves the interests of the residents of the Gaza Strip.

In the same context, the Palestinian factions participating in an expanded meeting held on Wednesday in Cairo, namely: the Hamas movement, the Democratic Movement in Fatah, the Islamic Jihad movement, the Popular and Democratic Fronts, and the National Initiative Movement, announced their full support for the National Competencies Committee. In a joint statement, it called for creating the appropriate climate for the committee to immediately assume all its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.

Launching the second phase
On Wednesday, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza. He said that this stage "moves from a ceasefire to disarmament, establishing technocratic rule, and embarking on reconstruction."

Witkoff explained, in a post on the “X” platform, that he was announcing the start of the second phase on behalf of President Trump, noting that it “establishes a technocratic transitional Palestinian administration” in the Gaza Strip under the name “The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.”

He added that the second phase will include "the complete disarmament and reconstruction of Gaza, especially the disarmament of all unauthorized individuals," stressing that the United States "expects Hamas's full compliance with all of its pledges, including the immediate return of the body of another detainee," warning that "any failure to do so will have dire consequences."

He stressed that the first phase of the plan resulted in "historic humanitarian aid, the maintenance of the ceasefire, and the return of all living detainees, in addition to the bodies of 27 out of 28 detainees."

The American envoy concluded his remarks by expressing “deep gratitude to Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar for their indispensable mediation efforts, which made all the progress achieved so far possible,” stressing Washington’s commitment to continue working with regional and international partners to support stability and reconstruction in Gaza.

The formation of the committee is completed

In the same context, the mediators in the Gaza negotiations, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, welcomed the completion of the formation of the Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the Gaza Strip, headed by Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath.

The mediators added, in a statement, that this step “is an important development that will contribute to strengthening efforts aimed at establishing stability and improving the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.”

They expressed their hope that the formation of the committee would pave the way for the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to the plan announced by Trump, thus contributing to stabilizing the calm and preventing renewed escalation.

The mediators stressed "the need for all parties to commit to fully implementing the agreement, leading to achieving sustainable peace, and creating appropriate conditions for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in a way that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people for security, stability and a decent life."

Daniels Files Bill to Eliminate Term 'West Bank' in State Government Materials

Senate Majority Floor Leader Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, filed legislation Thursday that requires state agencies to use the name of “Judea and Samaria” instead of the term “West Bank” in official government materials.

“I introduced Senate Bill 2153 to correct the record and affirm the historic and biblical connection of the Jewish people to Judea and Samaria,” Daniels said. “A term created in 1948 for political reasons should not be allowed to erase the true name of the biblical heartland of the Jewish people. Judea and Samaria are not modern political inventions. They are referenced throughout Scripture and central to Jewish history for thousands of years.”

Daniels says she is working with Yigal Dilmoni and Rafi Lazerowitz from the American Friends of Judea and Samaria (AFJS) on the legislation.

SB 2153 will be eligible for consideration during the 2026 legislative session, which begins Feb. 2.

Shaath announces the start of the work of the National Committee for Gaza Administration from Cairo: The humanitarian file is a priority

View attachment 172707

The head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, Ali Shaath, announced on Friday that the committee’s work had officially begun, starting from its meeting in Cairo, stressing that the formation of this committee was “the result of a broad national consensus and a mandate from the Palestinian leadership, supported by international and American support to ensure the Palestinian people’s exit from their current crisis.”

Shaath said in an interview with the Egyptian “Cairo News” channel that his assignment to head the committee “is based on solid legal and political foundations, foremost of which is UN Security Council Resolution No. (2803) and US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan.”

He stressed that the move "came with a direct statement from the Palestinian leadership, which aspires for this committee to be a vital link between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, paving the way for achieving the national dream and embodying the independent Palestinian state."

Shaath stated that the committee includes 15 Palestinian figures who are “professional and moderate, with a long history and a proven record in development, relief and humanitarian work inside the Gaza Strip.”

On Thursday, Shaath arrived in Cairo to begin the first meetings of the committee charged with managing the affairs of the Strip, after Washington announced the start of the second phase of the plan to end the war on Gaza, factional support for the committee to assume its duties, and Hamas’s readiness to hand over government files.

The humanitarian file is a priority.”

Shaath added that the committee will work during a two-year transitional phase, during which it will devote all its efforts to serving the most needy groups, especially women, children and the sick, to compensate them for years of suffering and siege.

He stressed that "the committee's top priority at the present time is the humanitarian file, providing urgent relief and care, and working to restore smiles to the children of Gaza who have suffered from the traumas of war and displacement."

He pointed out that the committee "will make every effort to implement the provisions of the peace plan and alleviate the burden of the living crisis in the Strip."

Trump announces his support for the Technocrat Committee

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump reiterated the announcement by US envoy Steve Witkoff of the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and affirmed his support for the new technocratic government. He also announced the formation of a “peace council” in the Strip, indicating that the names of its members will be revealed soon.

Trump said on the Truth Social platform: “As President of the Peace Council, I support the newly appointed Palestinian government of technocrats, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, with the support of the High Representative of the Council, to govern Gaza during its transitional phase... These Palestinian leaders are firmly committed to a peaceful future.”

He added: “With the support of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, we will ensure a comprehensive disarmament agreement with Hamas, including the surrender of all weapons and the dismantling of all tunnels. Hamas must fulfill its obligations immediately, including returning the last body to Israel, and move forward without delay towards complete disarmament.”

He continued: "As I said before, they can do it the easy way or the hard way. The people of Gaza have suffered enough. Now is the time."
If they disarm Hamas the Palestinians will be exterminated much quicker. The dirty trio are meddling and facilitating the annihilation of Palestine.
