IDF terrorist killed by Hamas sniper fire in Gaza City yesterday afternoon

The killed IDF terrorist is named as Sgt. First Class (res.) Michael Mordechai Nachmani, 26, a Technology And Maintenance Corps terrorist in the 614th Combat Engineering Battalion, from occupied Dimona.

possibly the last Israeli death from this war/genocide in Gaza.

In exchange for the 48 Israeli prisoners to be released from Gaza, Israel will release 250 Palestinian security prisoners who are currently serving life sentences.

Israel will also release some 1,700 Palestinians who have been detained by the military amid operations in Gaza over the course of the war, along with 360 bodies of Palestinian fighters.

Still, Israel has not yet published a full list of those set to be released in the deal.

There needs to be a count of all people in Gaza, so that this can be recorded for all time, so that people do not forget the horror of what was inflicted on them.

Dear all
Remember the death toll is far higher than they are suggesting.

The lancet medical journal last year predicted close to 200,000 deaths. We are now a year beyond that point and the situation is more dire. There was no famine when the lancet figures were published.

The figures are closer to 500-700,000

The world will be shocked by the amount of destruction and devastation left by the Nazi Zionist army in the Gaza Strip

2700 families completely wiped out with all their members

More than 2 million Palestinians will be without shelter!

Given that military operations are now at an end, there should be no reason why independent media cannot visit Gaza and document what has happened for the world to see. No need to "protect" journalists from "possible harm" as Israel has been claiming.

Looks like the ceasefire is official with the war criminal now giving speeches.

With the reputation of the Zionist entity being in shatters on a global scale, probably more than ever, even within the US the tide is slowly but steadily changing, now is the perfect opportunity for all Palestinian political factions to join hands and work out the most realistic and beneficial plan that would ensure a Palestinian statehood.

There is and has always been full backing for this from the Arab and Muslim world, the non-aligned world and major powers like China and Russia. I even believe that India supports a Palestinian state, at least they did for decades historically during the Cold War.

Now the majority of the Western world, excluding AIPAC/Zionist-controlled/influenced US, are even doing the same.

I can't think of a single major country, other than Israel and the US (for now) itself, that is actively working against a Palestinian statehood.

Even changes within Israel itself could occur. I don't think that most Israelis want perpetual war long-term and pursuing unrealistic ideas such as Greater Israel that will never occur. The end of the war (hopefully permanently) could also end up toppling the Israeli regime and getting Netanyahu persecuted domestically and maybe even internationally (ICJ, unlikely).

I know that Fatah is corrupt and Mahmoud Abbas is absolutely useless by large (I don't think that I will offend any Palestinians here by saying this) but the likes of Husam Zomlot (great rhetorically, great grasp of English) gaining power within West Bank/Gaza and pursuing the Palestinian cause internationally would give a much bigger outreach for the cause. Hamas/Fatah/other Palestinian groups don't need to appeal to Arabs or Muslims by large, they need to appeal to Westerners, in particular Americans in order to change political opinion on the ground in the US and eventually ensure US support for a Palestinian state.

A charismatic leader can do wonders if given publicity and space to excel in. Many conflicts have ended partially due to this. Cannot be underestimated.

@Falcon29 @Unknowntruth I would like to hear your opinions about this entire situation if you don't mind. No disrespect to anyone here but Palestinian opinions is what interests me the most for obvious reasons.

The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip officially began at noon local time. The IDF has withdrawn troops to the agreed-upon deployment lines as part of the deal with Hamas.

that's why Israel doesn't want to release Marwan Barghouti
Yes, but the Palestinians are educated and talented people and there should be plenty of people (in particularly among the youth but not only) that could rival or surpass the likes of Barghouti and Zomlot IMO. The problem is wasta.

For instance I was looking something up online yesterday on Wikipedia and one link took the other link and I ended up looking at the current oldest heads of state. To my surprise, or not really, Mahmoud Abbas is now the oldest guy in power (head of state) in the world and he has been in power for well over 20 years.

Correction, second oldest, apparently there is a guy in Cameroon (president) that has been in power for 50 years in a row and he is 3 years older. Not that it makes it any better.

Nevertheless it speaks volume about the downfall of Fatah/PLO. Guys like Abbas need to be removed. Should have occurred ages ago. To this day I don't know what his achievements are.

The Palestinians are talented but leaders like Barghouti who remain deeply popular with the power to unite people are not that common. Naim Qassem is no Nasrallah. Esmail Qaani is no Soleimani. etc.

I am less optimistic about the prospects of change in Israel, their society is getting worse not better as the orthodox have more children than the secular Jews. But we all hope to see a Palestinian state, and the Saudi led initiative is a good one, though unfortunately undermined by the Abraham Accord states.

Sure but if you have living fossils like Mahmoud Abbas in power for well over 20 + years this is nothing else but a sign of wasta and corruption. The problem is also not lack of talented people but talented people who want to involve themselves (and their families) with politics (automatically you get many enemies) and the spotlight this entails.

The momentum needs to be utilized by Palestinian political factions somehow because people's attention span is short (even more so today) and there is widespread support for actual concrete steps that would/could work towards truly establishing a Palestinian state.

Yes, it is a good initiative (well over 20 + years old) that is supported by every faction in Palestine and every Arab state and I believe every OIC member state as well.

However the main problem (as usual) is US blind support for Israel and hardliners within Israel that refuse a two-state solution. The situation was slightly different 30 years ago from what I have read and back then there was a real chance of a two-state solution if not for the assassination of Rabin in 1995. Not even close to as many settlements as today either.

Anyway I once watched a debate with Zomlot and he was telling that the initial Palestinian position (after 1948) was one state with equal rights. Even the pre-1967 border Palestinian state, would have lost almost 80% of its size prior to 1948.

If a one-state solution is implemented Palestinians/Arabs would be the majority (if you include the 20% of the Israeli population that is made up of Israeli Arabs/Bedouins) and many of the Palestinians would be trying to regain their lost houses/lands or at the least move back to Haifa, Yafa etc.

Anyway Israeli society (like any other) is also slowly changing. I cannot imagine that most Israelis (long-term) want to live in a perpetual war zone. If not for US aid and support 24/7, Israel would be in a huge mess economically. For how long will the US keep bailing Israel out if the political support of Israel dwindles in the US itself? It is not sustainable long-term. Nor waging wars/conflicts with many of your neighbors.

They want close/cordial relations with Arab states (Abraham/Ibrahim Accords) but their actions don't show it.

I think that if Hamas/Palestinian faction lay low for a while (the next many years) and work politically towards the establishment of a Palestinian state and don't give the Zionists any opportunity to discredit them through propaganda, more Israelis will notice that the problem is not with the Palestinians but radical Zionists that do not want to give basic rights to Palestinians or their own homeland.

At the end of the day, realistically speaking, neither the millions of Palestinians nor millions of Israelis are going anywhere. So a long-term realistic solution that will satisfy both parties needs to be found. With the onus being on the Israelis to give Palestinians their fundamental rights and either their own state or declare a one-state solution with equal rights for every citizen and the right of return.

What is sure is that the current status quo cannot continue forever. Even though Israel has the military, economic and political overhand.
